2 arrested after robbery attempt

Police arrested two men Tuesday following a midday robbery attempt at a haircutting school in northeast Fort Wayne.

A man concealing his face and brandishing a handgun went into Chosen Christian Beauty & Barber College at 6422 Georgetown North Blvd. and demanded cash. Not able to get any money, he fled out the back of the school and left in a vehicle, police said.

Police were dispatched to the scene shortly before 1 p.m., and witnesses in the school and at neighboring businesses provided a description. Later, an officer on patrol saw a vehicle matching the description and pulled it over in the 3500 block of Reynolds Street.

One person ran from the vehicle but was immediately caught. That person and two others were taken into custody.

Of those three, two were arrested: Deshawn Boykins, 19, and Eligha Billingsley, 29, both of Fort Wayne. The men each face a robbery charge. Additionally, Boykins was held on a probation violation and a charge of resisting law enforcement, police said.
