Irish lose recruit, report says

Danny Mattingly, a linebacker and tight end from Mead Senior High School in Spokane, Wash., is no longer committed to Notre Dame, according to a report by Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder told the website he would still consider signing with the Irish, but he has reopened his recruiting, dropping Notre Dame's 2013 class to 21 members.

Mattingly has taken official visits to Miami, UCLA and Washington and plans to visit Arizona State and Oregon, according to the site.

"I don't have any favorites or anything like that," Mattingly told Rivals.com. "Those are the schools I'm looking at and I'm going to finish my trips, review everything and see what I think."

Mattingly told the site he had 117 tackles, six sacks, 14 tackles for loss, two interceptions, three punt blocks and 25 catches for 365 yards and six touchdowns during his senior season.
