Kosciusko County police are investigating the death of a Warsaw man who was hit by a Jeep after his moped crashed west of Pierceton.FORT WAYNE – A bank on the city's southwest side has been held up for the second time in less than two months.
A man walked into the Chase Bank branch at 2617 Lower Huntington Road, near Bluffton Road, about 11:19 a.m. Thursday and handed over a note demanding cash and making a threat, said Raquel Foster, a Fort Wayne police spokeswoman.
She said he grabbed the money and ran out the door, going east and crossing Bluffton Road. Tracking dogs followed the trail to a carwash, where the scent abruptly disappeared. She said police believe he had a getaway car there.
There were several customers in the bank at the time of the robbery, but Foster said no injuries were reported.
In late October, the same bank was robbed by two armed men who wore dark hooded sweatshirts and concealed their faces with black masks. In that case, the men, each carrying a handgun, approached employees as they were arriving for work in the morning and forced them inside.
One of the robbers struck an employee in the head with a handgun. The employee was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said at the time.
The robbery that day occurred before the businesses had opened, so no customers were present.
Undisclosed amounts of cash were taken in both instances.
