Motel meth-lab find yields arrest

Fort Wayne police arrested a man on methamphetamine charges after finding a one-pot lab in his motel room over the weekend, according to court papers.

On Saturday evening, police officers at the Knotty Pine Motel, 1201 Goshen Ave., discovered the lab under the bathroom sink in the room of David Stover Jr., according to court documents.

Along with the lab, police found other materials for making meth in the room, court papers stated. The motel owners told police Stover had been staying there for about a week and a half.

Since May 1, Stover had purchased pseudoephedrine medication, a key meth ingredient, 15 times, according to court papers.

Stover, 35, was preliminarily charged Monday with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and four felonies: dealing meth within 1,000 feet of a public park, possession of precursors, maintaining a common nuisance and dumping a controlled substance waste.

He was being held Monday at the Allen County Lockup in lieu of $55,750.
