Dogs guard body found near Indianapolis campus

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police found two dogs guarding a woman's body that was discovered near the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers says an autopsy will likely be performed Thursday to determine the woman's cause of death.

Police were dispatched after the body was discovered about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on a walking path in White River State Park near the IUPUI campus in downtown Indianapolis.

Myers says animal control officers had to remove the dogs because they would not allow investigators to approach the body. Police don't know if the dogs belonged to the woman.

Police say the woman hasn't been identified.
