2013 State Fair will feature ice show, animation

INDIANAPOLIS — Visitors to next summer's Indiana State Fair will be able to cool down during the dog days of August by watching an outdoor ice-skating show.

Fair spokesman Andy Klotz says Rosstyn Ice Shows will hold three to four daily performances at the Aug. 2-18 fair. The troupe will perform family-themed shows on a rink beneath a clear-span tent with seating for up to 800 spectators.

Next year's fair also will feature a "Get Animated" exhibit highlighting the world of animation, from hand-drawn celluloid characters to modern computer animation.

The exhibit's centerpiece will be a large 3-D Zoetrope, a device that produces the illusion of motion from a rapid succession of static pictures. The device spins at more than 30 miles per hour, bringing cartoon characters to life.
