Point guard Walker Russell Jr., the Mad Ants' leader in assists with a 5.9 per game average and second-leading scorer (18.6) is expected not to play tonight due to a groin pull.
The Mad Ants (2-6) face division-leading Maine (5-2) at 7:30 p.m.
Russell did not practice with the team during Friday's shoot-around at Memorial Coliseum.
His status for Saturday's 7:30 p.m. home game against Springfield remains uncertain.
The team's leading scorer, 6-foot-5 shooting guard Ron Howard, is expected to play the point. Howard averages 22.1 points.
Three players assigned from NBA teams are expected to start.
Detroit assigned guard Kim English and forward Khris Middleton to the team, while the Pacers sent forward Miles Plumlee.
Middleton played three games with the Pistons this season, and English had played 10. This will be Plumlee's second stint in Fort Wayne. He appeared in the first two games with the Mad Ants and averaged 14 points and 9.5 rebounds.
