Balanced North Side attack knocks off Northrop

Mike Davis’ 19 points led North Side in a 65-59 home victory over Class 5A No. 4 Northrop in boys basketball Friday night.

Seven of his points came in the fourth quarter.

The Redskins’ Oosha Mitchell had 12 points and Dwight Richards added 11.

For Northrop, Brenton Scott scored 26 points and Bryson Scott had 17.

ADAMS CENTRAL 85, WOODLAN 78, 2OT: In Monroe, Dalton Combs had 45 points for the Flying Jets. He made 11 of 18 two-point shots, 5 of 11 three-point attempts and 8 of 12 free throws. He also added 10 rebounds.

Teammate Isaac Luginbill scored 16 points, with five steals, and Alex Byerly added 10 points.

Woodlan’s Shawn McGettigan scored 19 points, Corbin Evans had 17 and Greg White 15. White also had seven steals.

WARSAW 90, WAWASEE 70: In Syracuse, John Swanson had 26 points and Jared Bloom had 24 to lead the Tigers.

Alex Clark had 24 points for the Warriors.

LEO 84, GARRETT 64: In Leo-Cedarville, Sam Waters had 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting, and A.J. Busche added 19 for the Lions.

Busche made 7 of 9 shots and had 11 rebounds. Adam Davison had 15 points.

Garrett’s Justin McCoy scored 25 points; he made 7 of 14 three-point attempts. Matt Singleton had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

COLUMBIA CITY 76, EAST NOBLE 35: In Columbia City, Derek Hinen had 26 points, making 9 of 11 shots, to lead the Eagles.

Mason Coverstone, who had 19 points, made all 10 of his free-throw attempts.

East Noble’s Kaleb Williams scored 11.

BISHOP DWENGER 54, SOUTH SIDE 53: At South Side, Grady Eifert scored 20 points and Ryan Watercutter added 14 to lead the Saints.

South Side’s Domonique Gleason had 16 points.

WEST NOBLE 55, CENTRAL NOBLE 42: In Albion, Nick Thomas’ 17 points paced West Noble.

NEW HAVEN 66, BELLMONT 43: In Decatur, V.J. Beachem’s 23 points, on 9-of-17 shooting, paced the Bulldogs. Beachem also had eight rebounds.

Teammate Monte Stevenson added 12 points.

Bellmont got 13 points from Lance Vergara, and 10 apiece from Maverick Birch and Cameron Beinz. Birch also had 10 rebounds.

WESTVIEW 63, ANGOLA 28: In Topeka, Chandler Aspy and Kyle Miller scored 13 apiece for the Warriors.

Simon Brown led Angola with nine points.

EASTSIDE 44, LAKELAND 33: In Butler, Jayden Lilly’s 16 points and Kadis Renier’s 11 led the Blazers.

CANTERBURY 45, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 34: At Canterbury, Trent VanHorn’s 25 points paced the Cavaliers.


NORTHROP 51, NORTH SIDE 46: At North Side, Quila Jackson scored 18 points – with seven in the fourth quarter – to lead the Bruins.

Teammate Aleah Swary scored 15 points, 12 coming on three-pointers. Leah Edwards added six points.

North Side’s Sierra Miranda had 12 points, while Diedre’ Moore and Shaniqua Rucker scored eight apiece.

SOUTH SIDE 80, BISHOP DWENGER 49: At South Side, Lakyn Gulley and Ariana Simmons both scored 17 points for the Archers. Gulley made 5 of 10 three-point shots. Simmons made 7 of 14 field goals.

CANTERBURY 74, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 30: At Canterbury, Bailey Farley’s 21 points paced the Cavaliers. Aaliyah Gaines added 14 points and Darby Maggard had 13.

For Blackhawk, Brittney Chalfant had 18 points and eight rebounds.
