LEO-CEDARVILLE – A 20-point lead dwindled to three for the Homestead boys basketball team.
But it was as close as Leo would get Monday as the Spartans outlasted the Lions for a 100-88 win.
"Give our kids credit for hanging in there and preserving when it could have gone the other way," Homestead coach Chris Johnson said.
Not only was it Homestead's fifth straight win, but it gave Johnson plenty to work on – defensively.
"If everything was easy, these kids would think they were God's gift, and they didn't have to work at it," Johnson said. "They understand there's a lot of work to go before we get to where we want to get."
Homestead improved to 6-1.
