Reports: Irish lose running back commitment

Notre Dame lost a running back recruit Wednesday, according to reports.

Jamal James, a 5-foot-11, 215-pounder from Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, Texas, decided to reopen his recruiting.

James committed to Notre Dame in July after decommitting from Arkansas when Bobby Petrino was fired as the Razorbacks' coach.

"He just decided to look at some other places instead," Cinco Ranch coach Don Clayton told 247Sports.com.

James' decision to decommit leaves the Irish with 21 members for its 2013 recruiting class. Notre Dame does have a commitment from five-star running back Greg Bryant.

James' decision was also reported by Irish Illustrated and Irish Sports Daily.
