New Haven pedestrian dies after walking into moving train

A pedestrian died Wednesday night in New Haven after walking into the side of a moving train, according to a New Haven Police Department report.

Officers were called at 11:48 p.m. to the 500 block of Broadway on a report of a pedestrian struck by a train, the report said. A witness told police the pedestrian was walking southbound on Broadway, approached the crossing but never stopped and walked into the side of the train.

The pedestrian died at the scene, police said.

The FACT team is investigating the accident, the report said.
