Defense gets Warsaw girls to 9-0

– Warsaw’s tenacious defense held Triton to 11 second-half points to lead the Tigers to a 49-32 girls basketball victory Wednesday at Triton.

It was the ninth win without a loss for Warsaw, which has held its opponents to 45 points or less thus far.

Jennifer Walker-Crawford led Warsaw with 18 points and 9 rebounds.

CONCORDIA 58, COLUMBIA CITY 44: Host Concordia (8-2) won its fourth consecutive game with a win against Columbia City (2-9). Courtney Smith scored 19 points, Dejour Young added 17, and Olivia Hahn had 15 for the Cadets. Emily Whiteleader led the Eagles with 12.

HERITAGE 56, FREMONT 51: Visiting Heritage recovered from a 20-6 first-quarter deficit. Hannah Beckman led the Patriots (7-5) with 13 points. Miriah Bradtmueller and Kendall Knapke scored 12 each for Heritage.

HUNTINGTON NORTH 50, WAYNE 39: Huntington North won its second consecutive game behind Allyson Trout’s 17 points.

The Vikings had lost their first nine games. Carmen James led host Wayne (3-5) with 15 points.

CARROLL 68, MARION 66: Visiting Carroll evened its record to 5-5 against Marion (8-4). Kelsey Ronan led Carroll with 14 points. Kierstin Murphy and Madison Peterson had 12 each.

Hockey

LEO 8, SNIDER 1: Scott Jacoby had three goals and Cole Meyer had 22 saves for the Lions.

HOMESTEAD 6, BISHOP DWENGER 3: Max Dvorak scored twice for Homestead.

CARROLL 10, NORTHROP 0: Jackie Phipps needed nine saves for the shutout and Nick Janiszewski had three goals for the Chargers.
