Police seek attempted robbery suspect

Fled without money from Chase branch

Fort Wayne police are seeking a man who unsuccessfully tried to rob the Chase Bank branch at 3810 Coldwater Road on Friday afternoon.

Police said they were called about 3:20 p.m. to the branch on a report of a bank robbery.

Witnesses told police a man entered the bank, approached a teller and presented a note demanding money.

After being unable to obtain any money, he fled on foot.

A canine unit tracked the suspect north from the bank through a nearby mobile home park, but lost the scent at the north end of the mobile home park.

Detectives have released surveillance-camera images of the suspect. Anyone knowing him or where he can be found is asked to call 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP, where a cash reward is possible.

The attempted robbery is being investigated by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force, made up of city police, the Allen County sheriff's department, Indiana State Police and the FBI.
