Key matchup: Atkins is coming off a career-high 13 assists in Wednesday’s 85-57 win over Kennesaw State. The 6-foot-2 junior is also averaging 10.8 points. Green, a 6-3 sophomore, will need to keep Atkins in check while also running the Purple Eagles’ offense.

The skinny: Irish guard Jerian Grant will likely not play tonight after injuring his back when he landed hard after a collision with Kennesaw State’s Jordan Montgomery on Wednesday. “I just think he’s going to be too sore until we get back from Christmas,” coach Mike Brey said. … Notre Dame closes its non-conference schedule with its fourth game in seven days.
