At the Subway/Columbus North Invitational girls basketball tournament Saturday, Simmons, Souths senior forward, scored nine points in a 65-48 semifinal victory over Norwell to surpass 1,000 points for her career. But the Archers fell to host Columbus North in the championship game, 57-35, as Brittni Clopton led the Archers with 11 points.
Columbus North (11-0) was ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, and South (9-2) came in at No. 3.
BISHOP LUERS 65, INDIANAPOLIS CHATARD 62: James Blackmon broke the ITSAC/MIDWEST tournament scoring record with a 39-point, 15-rebound effort to bring Luers back from an early 12-point deficit.
Chatard led 17-5 after a quarter, but the Knights outscored Chatard 46-28 across the middle two quarters to seize command.
INDIANAPOLIS RONCALLI 63, NORWELL 45: Roncalli outscored Norwell 35-22 in the second half to secure third place in the Subway/Columbus North Invitational.
Taylor Wilson scored 18 points and Kelsey Beer 10 for Norwell.
CANTERBURY 73, NOTRE DAME ACADEMY (Ky.) 55: Kindell Fincher scored 27 points to lead Canterbury in the fifth-place game at the Subway/Columbus North Invitational. Darby Maggard added 19 points, Bailey Farley 15 and Aaliyah Gaines 12.
