FORT WAYNE – Allen County will be one of eight area counties that have been approved for a special anterless deer season, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
The season begins Wednesday and will run for 12 days in counties with a bonus anterless quota of four or more. The purpose of the extra season is to focus the states deer management on counties with high deer densities.
Joining Allen County with a bonus anterless quota of eight are DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben. Whitley is the only area county with a bonus anterless quota of four, while the nearby counties excluded from the special season are Adams and Wells.
Hunters can use a bonus antlerless license, deer license bundle, lifetime comprehensive hunting license, lifetime comprehensive hunting/fishing license, or a resident youth hunt/trap license to participate, or they must meet license exemptions.
Deer harvested in this season count toward the bonus antlerless county quota bag limit.
