Attic fire quelled

Firefighters broke through the roof of a Blackhawk Lane home to extinguish an attic fire Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded to a 7:18 a.m. call at 7017 Blackhawk Lane, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department. Two adults reported smelling smoke in the home and called 911.

As fire crews arrived at 7:31 a.m., they found smoke and fire coming from the attic and began removing parts of the roof to gain access to the fire, according to fire officials. The fire was under control at 7:39 a.m.

No one was injured. Crews reported heavy smoke, fire and water damage to the attic. The fire remains under investigation.
