Notebook: Ferrell assists IU

BLOOMINGTON – Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell had a career-high 10 assists in Indiana's 93-59 victory.

Ferrell became the first Hoosier to have at least 10 assists in a game since Jeremiah Rivers had 10 assists against Northwestern State on Nov. 28, 2009.

"He controlled the ball and never turned it over," Jacksonville coach Cliff Warren said. "I thought we would get him in some charges and I thought we would get him to take a couple of bad shots but he didn't. He was very poised and very good tonight."

Defensive effort

Jacksonville shot 46.7 percent in the first half. Indiana held the Dolphins to 30.8 percent in the second half.

Jacksonville had 20 turnovers, the most for an IU opponent this season.

"I think the type of threes we were getting in the first half were different from the type of threes we were getting in the second half," Warren said. "I thought we shared the ball a lot in the first half, but I think he ball kind of got stuck with certain guys and we didn't reverse the ball or share it as much in the second."

Playing with fouls

Cody Zeller had 16 points and six rebounds. He was limited to 19 minutes because of foul trouble. He finished with four fouls.

"Two weeks from now, I wouldn't sit him with two fouls for that long in the first half," IU coach Tom Crean said. "Tonight I did, because I knew there were a couple of things in the second half that we wanted to be able to do.

"… I thought he did a really good job of continuing to come back and play. I was happy with what he was able to go back and do defensively."
