Graceland exhibit explores Elvis-Hawaii connection

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A new Graceland exhibit explores Elvis Presley's connection with the islands of Hawaii.

"Elvis' Hawaii: Concerts, Movies and More!" will open in conjunction with the Elvis 2013 Birthday Celebration on Jan. 8.

According to a news release from Elvis Presley Enterprises, the exhibit celebrates Elvis' love for Hawaii and the 40th anniversary of the "Aloha from Hawaii" television special.

It features never-before-seen footage of Elvis heading to Hawaii by boat in 1957 and color footage of Elvis' first Hawaiian concert.

The exhibit also brings together all of the jumpsuits Elvis wore during his Hawaiian concerts, including the American eagle jumpsuits he wore in January 1973.

Artifacts from the exhibit include movie memorabilia from films "Blue Hawaii" and "Paradise, Hawaiian-Style." The exhibit will run for one year.
