Syracuse driver dies after crash

A Syracuse man died Friday as a result of injuries from a crash that occurred earlier this week, officials said.

Corey F. Kneller, 20, was traveling west on County Road 800 North near Tippecanoe Lake early Sunday when his 2001 Pontiac Grand Am swerved off the west side of the road near County Road 400 East, according to a report from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. The vehicle hit a tree before catching fire, the report said.

The sheriff's department said Kneller had been taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Police were called to the hospital about 2:50 a.m. Sunday.

Kneller was suffering from internal and head injuries and was later transferred to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

The crash remains under investigation.
