Firefighters discover northwest-side fire

Fort Wayne firefighters returning from a mutual-aid run with Huntertown this morning came across a house fire at 633 Woodland Springs on the city's northwest side.

Engine 15 firefighters made the discovery just before 10 a.m. and called for additional resources, the Fort Wayne Fire Department said in a statement. The fire was controlled eight minutes later, the statement said. No one was injured.

The fire was found on the first floor of the home, extending into the attic, the statement said. It said the home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, and moderate water damage.
