Brittain called up

The Anaheim Ducks sent the Fort Wayne Komets a little New Year's Eve surprise. Or actually a not-so-little surprise.

Assistant general manager Bob Ferguson of the AHL Norfolk Admirals announced today that the Ducks have reassigned Josh Brittain from the Komets to the AHL Norfolk Admirals, and returned goaltender Marco Cousineau to Fort Wayne.

It's a major shakeup for the Komets, for whom Brittain, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound forward, has been one of the major offensive cogs. He leads the team in in goals (13), power play goals (3) and plus-minus rating (plus-10), and is second in scoring (27 points) and third in assists (14). The Ducks reassigned Brittain to the Komets on Oct. 12.

As for Cousineau, he returns to the Komets after being called up to Norfolk Dec. 15. In Fort Wayne, he appeared in three games, posting a 1-1-0 record with a 3.71 goals-against average and .888 save percentage.
