Harangody all business

Maybe it could be a happy new year, after all.

Stopped by Mad Ants practice this morning and chatted with Luke Harangody for a feature piece in Thursday's paper.

My first impression is that he seems like a nice enough of a guy, but came across as very business-like.

Because of his success at Notre Dame, he's been interviewed a thousand times, and you can sense those guys who put up with the media. Harangody seems to be one of those guys.

He was pleasant, gave thoughtful answers, but seemed as though he wanted to get on the floor ASAP and get to work. And maybe that's what the Ants need.

Harangody doesn't seem as big in person as he does on television, which is how I've seen all of his games. He's listed at 6-8, but looks closer to 6-6 1/2.

The Ants play Santa Cruz on Thursday, then the same two teams play again Saturday at 7:30.
