The Narrows covered bridge over Sugar Creek at the east end of Turkey Run State Park in western Indiana’s Parke County was the turnaround point Tuesday for First Day hikers. In Indiana, 20 locations – including Salamonie Reservoir, Pokagon State Park, Chain O’ Lakes State Park and Ouabache State Park in northeast Indiana – participated in guided First Day hike programs. State park systems in all 50 states sponsored the New Year’s Day hikes, which allow individuals and families an opportunity to begin the new year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors.
