Running right past you with that "ha ha look what I've got, catch me if you can" look in his eyes?Male cats from six Fort Wayne ZIP Codes have been targeted for a one-day "Neuter for a Nickel" event on Feb. 9, Animal Care & Control said today.
Residents from ZIP Codes 46802, 46805, 46806, 46808, 46815 and 46818 are eligible to schedule surgeries for up to seven male cats per household for 5 cents per cat, the department said in a statement.
Scheduling will begin Monday on a first-come basis by calling 427-1244, the statement said. It said a valid ID will be required to verify residency in one of the targeted ZIP Codes, and each cat will be licensed to its address after surgery.
The surgeries are provided by volunteer veterinarians, and costs are covered through donations, the statement said. It said more than 350 cats per targeted ZIP Code were turned in to the shelter during 2012.
