Giving back
Lincoln Elementary School in Huntington donated 280 pounds of pop can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House uses the collection to help raise money for its operations.
Summit City Bicycles & Fitness in Fort Wayne donated $8,100 to the Fort Wayne Trails through its Sales for Trails event.
Carroll High School students collected canned food items and money to donate to various community needs, including the family of Janelle Carpenter, who was diagnosed with leukemia and is an technology specialist with Northwest Allen County Schools.
Aunt Millies Bakeries has donated more than 64,000 loaves of bread to area food banks, including Fort Waynes Associated Churches Food Bank and Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana.
Hardees stores in Columbia City, Warsaw, Wabash and North Manchester donated $3,000 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The donation will help send northeast Indiana children to MDAs summer camp at Camp Potawotami in South Milford.
