‘Spice’ taken in robbery at Angola store

A gun-toting robber made off with a synthetic marijuana product from an Angola shop Friday night, according to Angola city police.

A male walked into Little Hippie, 2010 N. Wayne St., shortly before 9 p.m. and showed a semiautomatic handgun. The robber demanded a clerk fill a blue bag with “Spice” products, police said.

The clerk complied with the demand, police said, and the robber fled, running south from the store.

The robber is described as taller than 6 feet, medium build, wearing blue jeans, dark coat with a greenish hooded sweatshirt, face mask and sunglasses. He brandished a silver handgun.

A police dog and K-9 officer tracked the man to an area near the Harcourt bridge, where police believe he got into a vehicle and traveled west on Harcourt Street toward Wayne Street.

Angola police were assisted by the Indiana State Police, Steuben Sheriff’s Department and Indiana conservation officers.
