A reshuffled lineup turned up a winning hand Saturday night for the Fort Wayne Komets.
Twenty-four hours after losing 4-2 to Cincinnati at home, the Komets called up Mike Hoban from Dayton of the Federal League to replace injured forward Luca Caputi and replaced Brent Henley with Ryan Hegarty on the backline.
The result: a 5-4 victory over the Cyclones (20-12-2) at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, with Hoban scoring one of the two third-period goals that snapped a 3-all tie after two.
Hoban, who also had an assist, got the go-ahead goal at 1:39 of the third, and Matt Firman added another at 4:41 to give the Komets a 5-3 lead.
The Komets outshot Cincinnati 31-24, including 14-4 in the second period.
Also scoring for the Komets were J.M. Rizk, Brandon Marino and Nick Schaus.
Rizk got it going at 7:42 of the first, tying the score at 1. Taylor Ellington made it 2-1, Cincinnati, at 18:22 of the first.
David Pacan made it 3-1 for the Cyclones at 2:35 of the second, but the Komets took control after that, getting goals from Marino at 3:29 and Schaus shorthanded at 6:52 to tie it again.
Forward Corey Elkins, rumored to be headed for Europe, assisted on both of those goals.
