Directors nominate familiar names

Did the Directors Guild of America foreshadow the upcoming Academy Award nominations? The group’s feature film nominations were announced Tuesday with some familiar names.

Directors getting nods were Ben Affleck for “Argo,” Kathryn Bigelow for “Zero Dark Thirty,” Tom Hooper for “Les Misérables,” Ang Lee for “Life of Pi” and Steven Spielberg for “Lincoln.”

The guild announces TV and commercial nominees today, and documentary nominees on Monday. Awards will be handed out during a dinner Feb. 2.

Academy Award nominees will be announced Thursday morning.
