Plea deal reached in drug case

A Kosciusko County man originally charged with dealing cocaine has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in U.S. District Court in Fort Wayne, according to court records.

Baldemar Robles, 36, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of maintaining a place for the purpose of distributing a controlled substance and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, court documents said.

If the plea agreement is accepted at his sentencing, two counts of distributing less than 500 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of marijuana against him will be dropped, and he will face a maximum of 30 years in prison.

A grand jury indicted Robles on the charges against him back in April. Federal agents alleged that Robles maintained a Warsaw home for drug dealing.

If Robles’ plea agreement is accepted, prosecutors will be able to confiscate a 9 mm pistol that belongs to him, according to court documents.
