Local flood warning issued

The National Weather service issued this statement Sunday morning for the St. Marys River near Decatur:

"Forecast flooding increased from minor to moderate severity. The flood warning continues for the St. Marys River near Decatur until Friday evening.

At 9 a.m. Sunday the stage was 19.7 feet and rising. Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. Flood stage is 17 feet.

Forecast: The river will rise to crest near 22.6 feet around 7 a.m. Tuesday January 15 and fall below flood stage around 10 p.m. Thursday January 17.

At 22.5 feet U.S. 224 is closed to all traffic except large trucks. Piqua Road begins to flood at Decatur. Evacuations begin on Ogg Street. Ohio state route 49 near Wilshire becomes flooded."
