Derby Girls ready to put training to use

– The Fort Wayne Derby Girls have been training for this season since August.

They hope that preparation pays off in their first bout, Saturday at Memorial Coliseum, against the Bleeding Heart Roller Girls of Bloomington.

The SWAT Team bout will be at 6 p.m. and the Bomb Squad’s at 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds will go to Noble House Ministries, which assists women and children who have suffered from domestic violence, addiction and homelessness.

At work for 20 years, Noble House Ministries also assists men in crises.

The Derby Girls, a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization, has raised more than $110,000 since 2005, benefiting a large number of charities.

They compete locally and nationally, and the upcoming season will run until June with home bouts at the Coliseum.

Visit www.fwderbygirls.com for more information.

Presale prices are $20 for two adult tickets or $15 for single adult tickets.

On the day of the event, adult tickets will be two for $25 or one for $15; kids 6 to 16 for $7.
