Marijuana growing operation found in Butler home

A Butler man was arrested Wednesday after officers responding to a domestic dispute found a marijuana growing operation in his home, police said.

Jack L. Porter, 47, was arrested on felony charges of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of over 30 grams of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.

Porter is also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana.

Butler police went to Porter's home at 340 N. Park Lane about 3:10 p.m., responding to a reported domestic dispute. Officers noticed a marijuana cigarette and received permission to search the home, police said.

During the search, officers found a marijuana growing operation including lights, timers and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Porter was being held at the DeKalb County Jail.
