The Motion Picture Sound Editors made nominations Friday for the group’s annual Golden Reel Awards, which honor sound editing in film, television and other mediums.
Among the movie nominations are three feature film categories.
- Music: “Argo,” “The Cabin in the Woods,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Django Unchained,” “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln” and “Skyfall”
- Dialogue and ADR (the process of re-recording or dubbing dialogue in a studio): “Argo,” “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “Life of Pi,” “Lincoln,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Skyfall”
- Sound effects and foley (the reproduction of sound effects): “Argo,” “The Avengers,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Django Unchained,” “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “Life of Pi,” “Prometheus” and “Skyfall”
Four of the nominees are also up for Academy Awards in the sound editing category: “Argo,” “Django Unchained,” “Life of Pi” and “Skyfall.” The Oscars category also includes “Zero Dark Thirty.”
