AT THE LIBRARY:

•Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza, will offer “Beyond the Talking Head” at 5 p.m. Thursday.

•Aboite Branch, 5630 Coventry Lane, will have “Art for Homeschoolers” at 2 p.m. Thursdays and “Art for Homeschool Teens” at 10:30 a.m. Fridays.

•Dupont Branch, 536 E. Dupont Road, will have “Cigar Box Mania” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

•Pontiac Branch, 2215 S. Hanna St., will have “Sit and Stitch,” for anyone wanting to learn to knit, at 4:30 p.m. Thursdays.

•Woodburn Branch, 4701 Indiana 101 N., Woodburn, will have a “Yarn Lover’s Gathering” at 7 p.m. Thursday. Also, “Buttons to Beat the Winter Blues” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

BROWN EXHIBIT: Former Fort Wayne resident Peggy Brown will have a one-person exhibition of her paintings through Feb. 16 at The Art Quilt Gallery in New York.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: Artlink, Auer Center for Arts and Culture, 300 E. Main St., is accepting postcard art from around the world for its upcoming “Postcard Art Show” exhibit and fundraiser. The deadline to enter is Feb. 28. There is no jury, no entry fee and no return of artwork. FUNDRAISER: Artwork collected by Unitarian Universalists will be sold at “ReArt II,” a reception and silent auction, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Langhinrichs Gallery, Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 5310 Old Mill Road. The benefit is for the Unitarian Universalist roof replacement project.

KALAMARAS NAMED: George Kalamaras has received honorable mention for poetry from the New Millennium Awards.

NAMED GRAND CHAMPION: Bishop Luers High School Show Choir, Minstrels, has earned grand champion at the Twin Lakes Show Choir Invitational in Monticello. The group also received best band, best visuals and best vocals in the invitational. Hudson Fairchild was recognized as dynamic performer, and Anna Stachofsky and Stephen Stachofsky were recognized as best female and male vocalist in a show.

WINNERS: The Fort Wayne Civic Theatre has announced the winners of the fourth-annual Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival: “The Wedding Gift” by Nancy Carlson Dodd, first place; “Bernice Sizemore’s 70th Birthday” by Nancy Gall-Clayton, second place; and “The Mark of a Dog’s Foot” by Anthony Seed Jr. The Playwright Festival will be held from May 31 to June 2 at Arts United Center, 303 E. Main St., and Fort Wayne Museum of Art, 311 E. Main St.

WRITING CONTEST: The faculty writer’s group at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast is sponsoring a writing contest to benefit TRIAAC, Three Rivers Institute of Afrikan Art and Culture. Writing workshops will be Feb. 16 at Faith United Methodist Church, 207 E. DeWald St. Cost is $25. The deadline for the contest is March 1.
