Wild game so far

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Komets trail the Kalamazoo Wings 3-2 after one period at Wings Stadium. They are fortunate to be in it, after they were severely outplayed early.

Fort Wayne's goals have come from Nick Wheeler (power play) and John Dunbar.

Kalamazoo has two power-play goals.

There have been five power plays in the game already.

Late in the first period, there was a fight between Daniel Maggio and John Negrin, who almost tossed Maggio into the Kalamazoo bench late in the bout. That would have been two straight games in which Maggio went over the boards.

There is a Winnipeg scout here, by the way, and he was at the Komets' 5-3 loss to Toledo on Friday night, too.
