Giving back

Indiana Michigan Power Co. awarded $2,000 to the Allen County Education Partnership’s Project READS program.

General Credit Union raised nearly $3,000 for a local family to help offset the cost of cancer treatment.

ProFed Credit Union donated $15,101 to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and Aramark paid $93,000 to 12 non-profit community groups last year. Groups receiving money: Fort Wayne Derby Girls, FWSC – Indiana Prospects, Hamilton Park Little League, Highland Lodge, Bishop Luers High School Soccer, Leo High School Band Boosters, Bishop Luers High School Softball, Sigma Pi Fraternity, South Side High School Softball, North Side High School Football, Central Noble High School Athletic Boosters and United Spirit Dance.

Alfe Heat Treating donated $5,000 to IPFW. The college of engineering received $2,500 and the Doermer School of Business received $2,500.

Awards/recognition

Seven students were selected as winners of Ivy Tech Community College Northeast’s annual Mystery Basket competition. The following students will be traveling to France in May: Mark Crawford, Chad Rolli, Kathy Burner, Nicole Cherry, Mike Trabel, John Mullett and Ashley Haegert.
