Radio: 1380 AM

IPFW leaders: Frank Gaines (18.5 ppg), Mario Hines (5.9 rpg), Isaiah McCray (2.6 apg)

UMKC leaders: Estan Tyler (11.4 ppg), Fred Chatman (7.2 rpg), Tyler (3.4 apg)

Key matchup: Tyler, the Kangaroos’ 6-foot-1 sophomore guard, is on quite a roll. In his last two games, he has scored 25 points against South Dakota and 20 against Oakland. In the two games, he was 9 of 16 from three-point range, which boosted his season three-point percentage to .500 (34 of 68). Tyler also handed out five assists against South Dakota. In all probability, McCray will draw the defensive assignment.

The skinny: The Mastodons can draw within a game of the .500 mark with a win over struggling UMKC. The Kangaroos have lost 10 of their last 11 games, with the only win coming in a 90-86 victory at South Dakota. UMKC went 4-4 in its first eight games before going into the tailspin. … The Mastodons will try to extend their home winning streak to eight games this season. They are 6-0 at the Coliseum and 1-0 at the Gates Center, where they will play their next two games against Western Illinois on Thursday and IUPUI on Jan. 26.
