So, looks like the Sacramento Kings might be headed north soon to become the "new" Seattle Supersonics.
This might be cause for hand-wringing in Sacramento. But, really, vagabond-ery is in the Kings' DNA.
They are, after all, the trailer park of NBA franchises, going back 50 years and more. Once upon a time, they were the Cincinnati Royals, and their marquee attraction was Oscar Robertson. Then, in 1972, they moved west, where they actually operated in two cities under two names: The Kansas City-Omaha Kings from 1972-78, and the Kansas City Kings from '78 to '85. Then they moved further west to Sacramento.
Now it's apparently on to Seattle for the Steals (and Dunks and Three-Pointers) on Wheels -- who, according to rumor have adopted the old Monkees' bumper music as their theme song: "Hey, hey, we're the Royals/Kings/Whatever You Want Us To Be, you never know where'll be found. So you better get reeeaady, we could be comin' to your town."
