After calling his team "exhausted," coach Duane Ticknor gave the Mad Ants a day off Tuesday.
With two games remaining on a road trip that has prevented the Ants from playing at home since Jan. 5, Ticknor said the team was weary and needed rest more than another day of practice.
The Ants, who went on an eight-game winning streak, but have since lost their last three, play at Erie on Friday night and again at Erie on Sunday afternoon before returning home for a Jan. 31 game against Maine.
Ron Howard, the team's second-leading scorer and point guard, remains day to day with a knee he injured Jan. 18 in Bakersfield. Although Ticknor said there was no structural damage to Howard's knee, he has kept the veteran guard out of the lineup the last two games, and is unsure of Howard's status against Erie.
