Blaze guts 2-story home on west side

Flames heavily damaged a house Monday afternoon in west Fort Wayne, according to the city fire department.

The fire at 9308 Sail Wind Drive, near Illinois Road, was reported at 2:15 p.m.

Firefighters extinguished flames in an attached garage and in the second floor of the two-story house. It took about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control, the department said.

No one was home at the time. Investigators determined the fire started in the garage and spread to the second floor, the department said.
