Cats 'n' Cocoa is Feb. 9 at Black Pine

Statement as issued Thursday by Black Pine Animal Sanctuary:

Albion, IN – Black Pine Animal Sanctuary will host the 6th annual Cats 'n' Cocoa, an afternoon of fun for sweethearts and families, on Saturday, February 9 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The non-profit animal sanctuary is home to a growing population of displaced, captive-raised tigers, wolves, bears, fox and other exotic animals. Cats 'n' Cocoa is one of two winter-time events that offers the general public the opportunity to enjoy exploring and observing the animals. All proceeds help fund the winter care of the animals.

A bonfire and hot cocoa will be provided. Many of Black Pine's animal keepers will be on hand all afternoon to help provide guests a close-up look at the animals, provide personal introductions, and answer questions. Though guests can warm up at the bonfire and in the climate-controlled reptile house, most events will take place outdoors. Appropriate winter apparel and footwear are strongly recommended.

Donations of items listed on Black Pine's wish list, published on the organization's web site at, will be gratefully accepted in lieu of event admission fees when given in equal or greater value. Admission will be $7 for ages three to nine and $8 for ages ten and up. Reservations are not necessary.

Any weather-related concerns that may postpone or cancel this event will be announced by a voicemail message at (260) 636-7383, on Black Pine's website, and posted on the organization's Facebook page.
