With more than 15 inches of precipitation so far this year, there’s no doubt this spring will bring out swarms of mosquitoes, experts say.The Board of Public Works on Wednesday approved a $423,598 contract with All Star Construction for a large water main-replacement project near Bluffton and Lower Huntington roads.
The project is one of many water main-replacement projects planned this year as the city works to keep up with the maintenance needs of its sprawling water system. The water-rate hike that took effect for City Utilities customers Jan. 1 is expected to pay for several miles of water main replacement a year.
The contract next goes to City Council for approval.
