Water main project on to City Council

The Board of Public Works on Wednesday approved a $423,598 contract with All Star Construction for a large water main-replacement project near Bluffton and Lower Huntington roads.

The project is one of many water main-replacement projects planned this year as the city works to keep up with the maintenance needs of its sprawling water system. The water-rate hike that took effect for City Utilities customers Jan. 1 is expected to pay for several miles of water main replacement a year.

The contract next goes to City Council for approval.
