‘I’m an actor’
At the first ceremony in 1995, Angela Lansbury opened the evening talking about the craft of acting. That started a tradition that evolved from a single anecdote to multiple people giving thoughts on acting, each brief speech ending with the performer giving their name and saying I’m an actor.
The identities of the storytellers each year are kept secret until they appear on camera. Seventy-four performers have delivered their stories in the 19 years of the SAG Awards.
