The Komets came back from the All-Star break a touch sluggish. But they snapped out of their doldrums in the second period Saturday night at Evansville.
After falling behind two goals, they scored four unanswred to defeated the IceMen 4-2.
Evansville got first-period goals from Daniel Tetrault and Josh Beaulieu, both on power plays, but the Komets tallied 11 of the first 14 shots in the second period to take control.
Brandon Marino scored on a 20-foot backhand shot. John Dunbar netted a shot from the bottom of the right circle. And Marino got to a rebound behind the net and scored on a wraparound for a 3-2 lead at 18:45 of the second period, in front of 8,213 fans at the Ford Center.
In the third period, Brett Smith kept it going by scoring off the rebound of a Marino shot.
The Komets hadn't played since losing 3-2 at Kalamazoo, Mich., Jan. 19. Their next game is there Wednesday.
The Komets (23-19-2) snapped a two-game losing streak.
The IceMen (16-25-4) have lost three in a row.
