Public radio hires new manager

Northeast Indiana Public Radio has hired a new president and general manager, officials announced Tuesday.

Peter Dominowski will oversee NIPR’s two public radio stations: WBOI-FM 89.1, which provides news and jazz music, and the classical music station WBNI-FM 84.1, according to a written statement. He starts today.

David Hunter, membership manager, had been interim general manager after former general manager Will Murphy left in November to lead WFIU, the Indiana University public radio station based in Bloomington.

Dominowski has nearly four decades in the radio industry, the majority in public radio. He has been a researcher, facilitator and consultant with more than 100 public radio stations and was one of the founders of the Public Radio Program Directors Association. He also served on the Board of the Radio Research Consortium for 11 years.

Before forming his consulting firm, Market Trends Research Inc., Dominowski was program director at WFMT, a commercial classical station in Chicago, and WMFE, a public radio station in Orlando, Fla.
