INDIANAPOLIS – A public defender in Indianapolis has been fired, accused by police of trying to trade legal services for sex with a prostitute.

Christopher Hollander was fired Thursday following an internal investigation. Marion County Chief Public Defender Robert Hill told The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/XnXAYI) that Hollander violated agency rules.

Prosecutor’s spokeswoman Peg McLeish said the case wasn’t official misconduct because he wasn’t acting in his official capacity as a public defender.

Hollander was arrested on a charge of soliciting a prostitute in January during an undercover police sting. Police said he offered legal aid in exchange for sex to an officer posing as a prostitute.

Hollander didn’t immediately respond to a phone call from The Associated Press seeking comment.
