South-side store robbers fire shots

Gunshots were fired during a robbery at a grocery store Sunday evening in south Fort Wayne, city police said.

Five men entered the Ramaran Asian Grocery at 5824 Decatur Road, near East Paulding Road, and at least one of them fired shots before they fled on foot, said officer Jeremy Webb, a police spokesman.

Whether anyone was injured was not clear, he said. The amount of money taken, if any, was not disclosed.

Police were sent to the business about 7:15 p.m. With the help of a police dog, officers found part of a cash register and a roll of receipt paper near South Hanna Street and Burns Drive, Webb said.

Officers followed footprints to a side street where it appears the robbers got into a vehicle and drove away, Webb said. Neighbors told police a white 1990s Cadillac sedan had been parked there.
