Public visitation was held Wednesday in South Bend for Bishop Emeritus John M. D’Arcy at St. Matthew Cathedral.

Opportunity to honor D’Arcy

Funeral services for Bishop Emeritus John M. D’Arcy began Wednesday in South Bend and continue today in Fort Wayne. Public visitation for the retired bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, who died from cancer Sunday, will take place today and Friday.

Today

•Reception of the body and morning prayer at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Clinton St., will begin at 10 a.m.; visitation throughout the day. Rosary will begin at 5 p.m. Evening prayer at 7 p.m.

Friday

•Visitation will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Cathedral.

•Funeral Mass will be at noon at the Cathedral, immediately followed by a reception at Grand Wayne Center, 120 W. Jefferson Blvd.

•The Rite of Committal will be conducted privately with the family in the crypt of the Cathedral.
