Remember the other day, when the Blob compared being No. 1 in college hoops this season to, among other things, taking a Ferrari for a test drive?
Well, it was a darn short one for Indiana.
The newly-anointed No. 1 got crowned by Illinois on an inexplicable last-second layup, inexplicable in the sense that, with the score tied, the Hoosiers left the perpetrator wide open in an inbounds pass. This is Defense 101, and Indiana flunked it spectacularly.
And so down goes Frazier, one more time. The Hoosiers can take solace in the fact that no one with even half an eye open thinks anyone is going to get through the Big Ten this year with fewer than four losses. And they can feel unease in the fact that no one thought Illinois -- losers of eight of its last 11, and down by 12 at halftime last night -- would be one of the four.
Well, now Indiana gets a trip to Ohio State on Sunday as a consolation prize. Yowzers.
